Ear Hop

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 2, 2026

This policy explains what the Ear Hop game ("Ear Hop: Ear Training Game", the app) and the website earhop.app collect, why, who else handles it, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it.

The short version: you can play without an account. We collect usage data to improve the game, our ad partner Google AdMob collects data to show ads, and if you join the world leaderboard we keep your account and your scores. The microphone sound of the Singing game never leaves your phone. We do not sell your data.

Who we are

Ear Hop is made by Songtive SIA ("Songtive", "we", "us"), a company registered in Latvia. Songtive is the controller of the personal data described here. Questions and requests: [email protected].

What we collect

  • Usage data. What happens in the game (for example "run started", "run ended" with the game, the score and the cause, "settings changed", "paywall shown"), app version, operating system and version, device model, language, country and an identifier created by the app for this install. We use it to find bugs, balance the games and see which features help players.
  • Welcome questions. The first screens ask what you want to train and how you found Ear Hop. Your answers choose your first game and are part of the usage data.
  • Microphone (Singing game only). The game asks for the microphone only when you choose Singing. The sound is analyzed on your phone in real time to find the note you sing. It is not recorded, stored or sent to us or to anyone else.
  • World leaderboard (optional). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier, your first name and, if Apple or Google shares it, your email address (Apple can give a private relay address). We keep your leaderboard name, your country and your best score in each game. Your name, country and scores are public on the leaderboard. The account is a Songtive account: the same account also works in ChordIQ and Piano Companion if you sign in there.
  • Purchases. If you buy Ear Hop Plus, Apple or Google processes the payment. We receive the purchase status, the product, the price and the store transaction record, never your card details.
  • Ads. The free game shows ads from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, AdMob collects device information, the IP address, ad interactions and, on Android, the advertising ID. On iPhone, Ear Hop does not ask for tracking permission, so the advertising identifier (IDFA) is not used. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, a consent form from Google asks before personalized ads are shown; you can change your choice later. Ear Hop Plus removes the ads.
  • Support messages. When you write to us, we receive your email address and what you write.
  • The website. earhop.app does not use cookies. Our server logs the IP address and browser of each request for security.

Why we use it (legal bases under the GDPR)

  • To provide the game, the leaderboard and Ear Hop Plus (performance of a contract).
  • To keep the game working, fix crashes and improve it (our legitimate interest).
  • To show ads in the free game (our legitimate interest, and your consent for personalized ads where the law requires it).
  • To answer your messages (our legitimate interest, or steps at your request).
  • To keep records required by tax and consumer law (legal obligation).

Who processes data for us

  • Apple and Google — app distribution, payments, Sign in with Apple and Google sign-in.
  • Google AdMob — ads, as described above, under Google's privacy policy.
  • Nexus, Songtive's own analytics service (on Google Cloud) — usage and purchase events.
  • Songtive servers — your leaderboard account and scores.

Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area; where they do, the transfer is covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

We do not sell your personal data.

How long we keep it

  • Usage data: only as long as we need it to improve the game, then it is deleted or made anonymous.
  • Leaderboard account and scores: until you ask us to delete the account.
  • Purchase records: as long as tax and consumer law require.
  • Support messages: as long as needed to help you and to handle follow-up questions.
  • Game progress (best scores, settings) is stored on your phone. Deleting the app removes it.

Your rights

You can ask for access to your data, a copy of it, its correction or deletion, a limit on its use, and you can object to its use or withdraw a consent at any time. To delete your leaderboard account, see Delete your account. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in Latvia this is the Data State Inspectorate (Datu valsts inspekcija).

California residents: you have the right to know, delete and correct personal information and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing". We do not sell personal information. To limit ad personalization on Android, open Settings › Google › Ads.

Children

Ear Hop is not made for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.

Security

Data sent by the app travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to our systems is limited to the people who need it for their work.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the effective date at the top of this page. For important changes we also tell you in the app.
